Cavendish International can accredit a programme of learning. If you are an employer, college or training provider, your programme can become a Cavendish International regulated course and Cavendish Qualification to be issued for it.
The Process
- Contact us or one of our representatives about qualification development, endorsement, or validation.
- Once we have a better understanding of your requirements and have answered any immediate questions you may have, we will send you a form to complete that request more details on your course.
- At this point we will provide a fixed quote for the development costs and further registration fees. If you decide to continue, then we will prepare a project plan which will include timescales.
- The head of Cavendish Validation Unit will remain in regular contact with you throughout the process to ensure our services meets your needs. Once this is complete Cavendish will formally accredit/endorse the qualification/programme.
What is Course Validation?
Each new course must go through a validation process before students can be recruited to it. Validation is used to ensure that the new course is appropriate academically, that the academic standards and quality are suitable and that students will have the best possible opportunity to learn.
Aims and Purpose of Course Validation:
Validation is the method by which new courses are introduced into our bank of courses on offer to students. It is an opportunity for new courses to be scrutinised before their introduction, both to assure their standards and to enhance the quality of the proposal. As part of the validation process the validation panels will consider:
- The rationale for introducing the new course.
- How the new course fits with other courses on offer.
- The awards offered and the curriculum – its design, content, delivery, and assessment.
- The appropriateness of the standards set for the level and credit of the award.
- The appropriateness of the intended learning outcomes and how well those intentions are being met.
- The availability of human, physical and other learning resources to support the new course.
- The student experience offered by the new course, including opportunities for employment and further study.
- The way in which the course facilitates the widest possible access to ensure that all students can maximise their potential.
Aspects explored during validation:
Course design and curriculum:
- Structure and appropriateness of the curriculum
- Overall coherence of the course
- Alignment with national benchmarks and any relevant professional requirements (EQF level)
Learning, teaching, and assessment:
- Appropriateness of the modes of delivery
- Variety of teaching and learning methods to meet the needs of a diverse range of students
- Coverage of learning outcomes
- Reassessment; Innovation and balance of assessment methods
Student recruitment, admissions, and support:
- Proposed student numbers and anticipated market
- Support for work-based learning/placement (where appropriate)
- Student induction and ongoing support
Resources:
- Course management
- Staffing and staff development
- Resource requirements, including library resources, physical and technical requirements
Validation documentation
This should provide the panel with the information they need to understand the course or courses, being proposed; including how they will be taught, assessed, and resourced and be concise but sufficiently detailed to enable the panel to evaluate the proposal properly.
The course documentation compiled by your team, should be produced in line with the template and must include programme specifications for all the proposed awards. Where there are external requirements for validation, for example by a professional, statutory, or regulatory body, the documentation must also meet any criteria published by the external body.
